Teresa Musoke
Teresa Musoke, born in Kampala in 1942, started her career in Uganda at
a time when the country could offer many opportunities for artists to explore
and express themselves. She went abroad to be trained in printing and took the
chance to gather more experience in contact with new art communities.

Teresa has been living in Kenya for the last fifteen years. Most of her works
depict wildlife or the world of the Massai, which gave her worldwide reputation.
Her subjects are incidental and it is more her interpretation of the themes that
creates her style. Her technique is unique consisting of a mixture of batik and
oil painting. Wood-cuts reduced to black and white dominate the energy and
rhythm of the compositions.
Teresa Musoke has a great experience in teaching art and she encourages her
students with her qualities of spontaneity, flexibility, imagination and
sensitivity. In return from teaching she gets new inspiration and strength to
create new works. She is a prolific artist and her art can be seen in many
places in Uganda and Kenya, sometimes as large murals and buildings decorations.
