Rose Namubiru Kirumira
Rose Kirumira was born in Kampala (1962) and graduated from Makerere
University with a Master in Fine Arts in 1992. Since then she is lecturer and
head of the sculpture department.
Starting her career in ceramics she later enjoyed creating compositions in
wood and metal. It is amazing to see how Rose succeeds in transforming the
masculine materials into humoristic portrait reliefs. She also collects waste
materials cuts them and assembles them into sculpture. For her reliefs and three
dimensional works she uses cement and clay. She is a hard worker and takes
advantage of invitations to international workshops to gather new ideas.
