Francis Xavier Ifee
Francis Xavier Ifee is one of the few Northern-Ugandan artist, born 1961 in Moyo,
a savanna region. Trained in Makerere University, Kampala, he brilliantly
concluded his studies. He intends to continue his academic career.
It is a surprise to discover his very detailed
transparent technique, mostly oil on canvas or board. His surrealistic motives
depict fantastic creatures in dramatic landscapes, as an intended statement
about nature's deterioration. The viewer's first impression will be one of
harmony in form and colour but a closer look will reveal the artist's deep
social criticism.
